Gramercy Pictures was a film production and distribution company founded in 1992. The company was owned by Universal Studios, and it primarily focused on the distribution of independent and arthouse films. The company's logo featured an image of a black bulldog sitting in front of a movie projector. The bulldog was named Gramercy, after the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood in New York City. The logo was designed by the late Charles S. Anderson, who is known for creating several iconic logos for major brands. The Gramercy Pictures logo was phased out in 1999 when Universal closed the division and merged it into its main distribution arm.
